1. I'm not getting any results back from my queries.

Make sure you've added your user to a Group and given that Group permissions to view that data. Another reason may be that you have not started the service for messaging or it may have stopped. See Running MDN Services for more details.

SMS problems:

       - SMS modem

Ensure your SIM card has enough credit available to send messages
Ensure you have the end-users mobile phone number in international format in the Users Area in the Users & Groups area.
Ensure the correct COM port is being used, you can check this by connecting with HyperTerminal and/or going to the Windows Control Panel>>System>>Hardware tab>>Device Manager>>Ports (COM & LPT)
Ensure that the SIM card has the sign-on PIN number removed. You can do this by putting the SIM card back in to a phone and disabling the PIN number.
Check your queries are formatted correctly. This can be due to incorrect messaging separator usage, or forgetting the keyword.

       - SMPP Connection

Check the host is working and can be connected to
Check the settings are correct
Some providers will require a link to be sent to keep the connection alive.
Check your provider supports everything here http://www.mobiledatanow.com/support/smpp and your operator and country are supported.

Email problems:

Ensure your messages have not been stopped by spam filters
Make sure your email provider supports IMAP email accounts. An alternative is gmail.com which provides free IMAP email accounts (although Gmail usually has up to a 5 minute delay).
Check your queries are formatted correctly. This can be due to incorrect messaging separator usage, or forgetting the keyword (if applicable)

Instant Messaging:

Instant messaging can be a bit unreliable at times, so any problems may be on the instant messaging providers side.
Check your queries are formatted correctly. This can be due to incorrect messaging separator usage, or forgetting the keyword.

Other

Check to see if your database entries are case sensitive.
Finally, check the Event Logs for each messaging tool by pressing the Event Log button

Each log has extensive information about what happens when a message is sent.

2. I'm getting varying results for the timeliness of queries returning back to me.

MobileDataNow is very quick at processing queries, but you're most likely to get varying results with instant messaging due to the providers network. A simple SMS modem can process around 6 messages a minute and email is dependent on your messaging infrastructure but should return a message in a few seconds (Note: With Gmail IMAP, quite often there are delays of around 5 minutes).
