Deploying to end users

Top   « Previous  Next »

If you haven't already, start the relevant services as shown in Running MDN Services

When deploying to end-users, first test these yourself, like below.

You can also send 'help' to retrieve a list of keywords.

E-mail:

Send an email to the base email address with the letter 'E' in the subject line. This will query the database for all contact names starting with the letter E

Like below (but obviously with your own base email address you setup)

You should receive a reply back like below

Instant Messaging:

Send an IM to the base IM address (this will show up as a Friend/Contact in your IM application) with the words 'cont h'. This will query the database for all contact names starting with the letter H

Note: You will need to do this from a different computer than the host computer running Mobile Data Now as IM networks only allow one connection per computer running at a time.

You should receive a reply back like below

deployment -im

SMS:

Send an SMS to the base SMS number with the words 'cont r' in the body of the text message. This will query the database for all contact names starting with the letter R, but since we opted to only return 1 result (in the messaging details screen) only 1 result will be returned.

You should receive a reply back like below. Different phones may format it more neatly.

At any time you can send the keyword help by itself and it will return a list of keywords.
