We've been busy working on a new release of Mobile Data Now which we'll release before the CTIA mobile show in Las Vegas in a couple of weeks.

Much of the work has been on usability. This involved a lot of work replacing the horrible activation system at the end of the installer (yes, the damn installer) but now that's working really nicely. We've also fixed up a lot of anomalies with the UI as you work through setting up database connections and through to queries. It may all not be very noticeable at first, but it will just make things easier. Thanks to Atta for all the work on the usability ideas and enhancements.

We'll also have an import and export function so you can export your projects as an xml file. Over time we'll try and get some common project files released for common CRM etc tools so people can just import a project file for a CRM title and most of the work will be done, just add users.

Other things we've added are messaging controls for public messaging so people can't get away with spamming the service and if you send a query 'help' it will send back a list of keywords you've created. The help system is pretty basic for now, so we'll expand on that in a later release.

Alas, web services won't be in this release (next one I promise) as the (damn) installer modifications took longer than we first thought. Still, now that we have things correct at the ground level, it will make everything else much better going forward.

Oh yeah, the help files are getting re-done. They were very basic to begin with and a few people got a bit stuck on some bits so we're fleshing them out quite a bit. All takes time though.

And...we've been very busy working on our reseller documents and product guide, which I'm pleased to say are pretty much finished. It's been a lot of work getting all this right but they look pretty slick. Documents, aaargh....

A lot of hard work to begin with, but it gets easier.
